Throughout the season a number of tournaments are sanctioned as part of the ZRFU calendar, with the major tournament of the season being the Castle International Sevens held at Lusaka Rugby Club. Additionally there are a number of other tournaments not sanctioned by ZRFU.
ZRFU Sanctioned
American Tournament
Originally held at the now defunct Kitwe Playing Fields Rugby Club, this tournament is now played at the start of the season at Diggers Rugby Football Club in Kitwe. It is a 15s tournament open to all ZRFU affiliated clubs.

Nchanga 10s
A 10-a-side tournament held at Nchanga Rugby Football Club in Chingola, this tournament is also open to all ZRFU affiliated clubs. It is usually held at the start of the season.

Mufulira 7s
Traditionally held on the weekend of the xxxx holiday at Mufulira Rugby Club, Mufulira, this 7s tournament is the first of the series of sevens tournaments held in Zambia. It is open to all ZRFU affiliated clubs.

Mosi 7s
Originally the Rhino Sevens it was re-branded to the Mosi Sevens in 2007 when the Original Lusaka International Mosi Sevens became the Castle Sevens. It is held at Ndola Rugby Football Club and is open to all ZRFU affiliated teams, but is also used by the Zambia National team as a warm up for the Castle Sevens and the Kenya Safari Sevens.

Castle Sevens
Originally the Lusaka International Mosi Sevens this tournament was re-branded to the Castle Sevens in 2007. The showpiece of the ZRFU calander this is an international tournament with both African National teams and South African and British professional club sides being invited. Past participants have included The Emerging Boks, Mpumalanga, Western Province, Golden Lions, Blue Bulls and Eastern Province from South Africa and The British Army, Samurai and Public School Wanderers from the UK. National teams that have partcipated include Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia, Botswana, Uganda and Madagascar. In 2004 the tournament was used as the Central and Southern African World Cup Qualifying Event for the 2005 World Cup in Hong Kong.

The 2008 Castle Sevens will be played on Saturday June xx and Sunday June xx

Coca-Cola Tourament
Played at Lusaka Rugby Club at the end of the season, this is a 15s tournamnet open to all ZRFU affiliates and occassionally to non-affiliated select sides. Due fixture build-ups the tournament was not held in 2007 but in 2008 it will be held on Saturday, September xxx

Non ZRFU sanctioned tournaments
Baobab Touch 7s
Originally started as a fun, fundraiser for the Baobab College rugby tour of Botswana, this tournament has become part of the Zambian rugby calander. It attracts corporate entries and also allows former rugby players to enter teams, along with club B-Sides. The tournament also has a ladies section, attracting ladies teams from the college, Lusaka Rugby Club and Red Arrows Rugby Football Club. The rugby played is touch rugby.

HLI Sevens (Higher Learning Institute Sevens)
Innaugurated in 2007, this tournament is a chance for the University Clubs to showcase their abilities, not only at rugby but also at administration. The tournament is attended by invitation and participating teams include UNZA, Copperbelt University, NORTECH, Lusaka Rugby Club and a number of school's teams.
